Casting their votes & asking their fans to vote has become their national duty now. Many politicians take Bollywood celebrities into their parties because they are very influential and fans actually listen to what their idol (celebrity) preaches online.
Maharashtra Assembly Elections was held on 21st October 2019, in Mumbai and amid their busy & hectic schedules, Bollywood celebrities stepped out in high spirits to cast their votes & practice their civic duties for the nation. From Amir Khan, Kiran Rao, Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, Madhuri Dixit Nene, Lara Dutta, Ritesh Deshmukh with Genelia D’Souza, Salman Khan, Sharukh Khan, Anil Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachan, Abhishek Bachan to sports legends including Sachin Tendulkar, Mahesh Bhupati, etc. posed for the cameras showing off their ink.
Everyone posed for the cameras after casting their votes & shared a picture on their social media accounts so that the people who are following them can also understand the need to go out and cast their votes. They feel that if they have a status where they can stand up for something good like encouraging the youth to vote for a better India, they take that opportunity & use it wisely.
Bollywood Celebrities like Vivek Oberoi made his presence felt by talking to the media and encouraging everyone to go out and vote.
Senior citizens of the Bollywood fraternity like the Oscar-winning lyricist Gulzar was also seen casting his vote in Mumbai today. He took this outing as an opportunity to applaud the younger generation of the country for being ‘responsible’ and aware of the current happenings. He also urged the senior citizens to cast their votes so that they don’t have any reason to complain later.
He especially mentioned the tremendous work the young generation of Mumbai has been putting to stop the government from cutting down the trees of the Aarey Forest. He went on and said; ‘Even during the Aarey protest I saw younger generation arriving to support the cause, I think they are more to the point and responsible. That’s why my appeal is to senior citizens. If you don’t cast your vote, you have no right to complain later’. Elections began on 288 constituencies of Maharashtra at 7 am on Monday and continued till 6 pm. The final counting of votes will be held on October 24.
