Recently, former Indian wicketkeeper Farokh Engineer made some claims and expressed his feeling about how he feels that Virat Kohli has a significant impact on the selection committee and Team India selectors. The 82-year-old former player of India expressed his disappointment by calling the selection committee “Mickey Mouse selection committee with no appropriate qualification for the job”.
Farokh also pointed fingers at the fact that he saw some selectors fetching cups of tea for Anushka Sharma who happened to be at the World Cup matches in England. She has been continuously criticized for being there at a match to support his husband. During the 2019 World Cup, when India was undefeated in the tournament, they lost a match at semi-finals to Australia and Anushka was present there. Fans immediately started to blame the actress for the failure of the team. They started to say that due to her presence Virat couldn’t focus on his game and got distracted.
The Ae Dil Hai Mushkil actress also received backlash for being present in the picture of Team India with the High Commissioner last year. Fans lashed at her and said just because she is an actress & Virat’s wife, she is given preference over any other player’s wife. She clarified the incident by telling people that the High Commissioner’s wife asked her to accompany her in the photograph while Anushka was hesitant in doing so.
Today, Anushka Sharma took her social media account to break her silence to provide a clear & apt clarification over the entire scenario. She wrote a two-page confession/statement in which she clarified and explained the fans that she has always bought her own tickets to the matches and flights as well. She has never over-stayed or took advantage of her position in the industry. In the statement, she recalls all the times when she has received backlash for the poor performance of Virat. Anushka has explained that in her 11 years of Bollywood career, she has built every step with dignity and she doesn’t like how she gets targeted over things, which does not even involve her.
This bold statement that Anushka posted was after the former Indian wicketkeeper Farokh Engineer raised questions about the team selectors serving tea to the actress. The Indian actress made it pretty clear that she doesn’t want to be a part of any sensationalizes reports. She took a jib at the ones who have said that Anushka is a part of indoor-meetings for selection; the actress has denied all of these claims and said that her silence shouldn’t be taken as a sign of weakness. She ended her statement with powerful words ‘ Maybe it’s hard for some to believe that because I am a self-made, independent woman who only happens to be the wife of a cricketer”
The two have been married for two years now and are happily enjoying their time together. The duo was last seen at Amitabh Bachchan’s Diwali party at Jalsa, Juhu on 27th October 2019. She also did not miss by saying ‘For the record- I drink coffee’.
