In view of the ever-increasing pollution in the capital Delhi, the Delhi government on Wednesday announced an extension of the even-odd scheme. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Wednesday that the date of even-odd scheme can be extended if needed. Meanwhile, the issue of pollution was heard in the Supreme Court today, in which the Supreme Court has directed the Delhi Government and the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) to submit the data from October 1 to December 31 of the previous year. This order was given by the court during the hearing of the petition against the odd-even scheme.
It is known that to control the constantly deteriorating air quality, the government had ordered to implement an even-odd scheme in the capital through November 4-15. Meanwhile, people were exempted from this keeping in view of Sunday and Guru Parva for the last three days.
Today, from Wednesday, the even-odd has come into force in the capital. At the same time, the improvement in pollution levels has also been recorded again in the severe category for the last few days.
Violation of rules may be overshadowed
During the last six days, challans have been given for about 3000 vehicles ignoring the rules. With the introduction of even odd, the penalty amount for those who ignore the rules has also been increased from 2000 to 4000 rupees. Vehicle owners are also being made aware that they do not face any problem during this period.
More than 600 teams of Police, Transport and Revenue Department are ready to crack down on those who ignore the rules. After the implementation of the scheme, the teams are continuously engaged in strictly enforcing the rules.
