Serial killers are different from just plain murderers. They have what could be called a “cooling period” between murders. Their reasons to kill are not fueled with personal angst against specific people. But they are driven to kill by the excitement they derive from killing or just sexual drive.
These Indian serial killers will make you suspicious of people around you –
Cyanide Mallika
She’s a rare breed, rare Indian female serial killer. She lived in Bangalore and between 1999 to 2007 she killed 6 women before getting caught. Her operations were twisted, some say her target were well-to-do women and others claim her victim to be women from lower-middle-class going through domestic issues.
She met her killers in temples, after gaining their confidence pretending to be a pious woman, she would a call them to a temple far away. In temples in the middle of nowhere, she poisoned would poison the women (in holy water or prasad) and loot their belongings.
She was given the death penalty 2010 which was reduced to life imprisonment in 2012.
The Joshi-Abhyankar Serial Murders
4 batchmates and friends from Pune’s Abhinav Kala Mahavidyalaya killed 10 people, the incident is now called as the ‘Joshi-Abhyankar serial murders’. People in college bond over similar interest, these men must have bonded over murders. The horror these friends spread in Pune was dreadful. Between 1976 to 1977 they killed 10 people before, all 4 of them were executed in 1984, like true friends?
Their first victim was their own classmates, they kidnapped him for ransom. They made him write a note to his father explaining that he was leaving the home, then they killed him, dumped his body in a barrel and threw it in a lake.
Jaishankar
Jaishankar committed suicide on February 28, 2018, he was accused of 15 murders and 30 rapes. He even managed to escape jail not once, but twice. In a dramatic manner, he once escaped in police uniform. He continued murdering and raping even after escaping. A Kannada movie was made based on his story and the cold-blooded murders he committed, mostly by slitting people’s throat with a blade. He was infamous for killing sex workers, according to media reports he used to take a woman to the distant fields where he raped them and killed them.
He killed himself by slitting his throat his with a broken blade.
Amardeep Sada: World’s youngest serial killer
It might be hard to believe that the world youngest serial killer was only 8 years old when he was arrested in Bihar’s Begusarai. His first murder was of his 6-months old cousin. He went on to kill his sister who was 8-months old and a neighbor’s kid who was six months old girl named Khushboo. He picked up Khushboo from his school, took her to a field nearby, he smashed her head with a brick and killed her before dumping her body in the bushes.
It is said that the family was aware of the fact that he had killed the two kids, but they preferred not telling the police and keep the “family matter” within the family itself. But when Amardeep killed Khushboo, the police came to know. When Amardeep was asked by police why he killed the kids in the police station, he just smiled. He confessed to killing the girl and did not even fret in telling the graphic stories how he killed her.
When police asked why he killed the innocent little girl he smiled and asked for biscuits.
His parents told that the boy can’t decide right from wrong. Doctors examined him and confirmed that he was suffering from “conduct disorder”, young Amardeep was a sadist who derived pleasure from hurting other people.
According to Indian law, he couldn’t be convicted, it is believed that he has been cured with medication and he is currently roaming around freely.
Akku Yadav got what he deserved
He does not qualify the criteria for being a serial killer. He was more of a brutal local goon who enjoyed raping and killing woman in the area where he ran his business. Yadav when he was 32, was lynched by an enraged mob right outside district court of Nagpur. It is said that one of the ladies even hacked his penis off. When police came for the investigation, he each and every lady of the village stood and asked to be arrested.
