Supreme Court Chief Justice Sharad Arvind Bobde has given a big statement about this. At an event in Jodhpur, Justice Sharad Arvind Bobde said that justice should never be done in an hurry, justice can happen anytime. He said that if justice is done in retaliation, it loses its original character. Justice SA Bobde, who arrived in Jodhpur to attend the inauguration ceremony of the new building of the Rajasthan High Court, said, “I do not think that justice should ever be done in a hurry, I think if justice is done in a sense of revenge, then it loses its original character.
CJI SA Bobde said that recent events in the country have sparked old debate with renewed vigor. There is no doubt that the criminal justice system should reconsider its position and its attitude towards negligence, but till the end the crime should be settled under the law only.
It is worth mentioning that the four accused, who had raped with the vet in Hyderabad, were shot dead by the police on Friday. According to Telangana Police, the accused were taken to reconstruct the crime scene on National Highway-44. During this time, the accused tried to escape from police custody. After this, the police opened fire on them. In this encounter, the four accused died on the spot.
Telangana High Court has ordered to preserve the dead body
The Telangana High Court on Friday directed the state government to keep the bodies of the four accused of raping a veterinarian in hyderabad till 8 pm on December 9. The High Court passed this order on the request of the Chief Justice’s Office to intervene in the case. It alleges that the killing of all four is illegal. The High Court also asked to submit a video CD of the post-mortem of the accused to the Principal District Judge of Mahbubnagar in CD form or Pen Drive. He also directed the Principal District Judge to take a CD or pen drive and give it to the Registrar General of the High Court by Saturday evening.
NHRC team leaves for investigation, Center also asks for report
The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has taken suo motu cognizance of this encounter. The NHRC immediately dispatched a team to Telangana, which would investigate the facts. This team is formed under the leadership of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP). The team will complete the investigation and submit its report to the commission as soon as possible. The Commission has said that it already has taken cognizance of increasing cases of rape and sexual harassment across the country, a detailed report of such cases has been sought from the State Women Commissions and the Chiefs of Police including the Union Women and Child Development Ministry. On the other hand, in this case the Central Government has also sought a detailed report from the Telangana Government on the custody encounter. In order to ensure accountability in the session of Parliament and due to the sensitivity of the matter, the government is keeping a close watch on the matter to keep complete preparation with the facts.
