Defending champions India are overwhelming favourites to win a record fifth U-19 World Cup title, but a tough fight is expected from first-timers Bangladesh in an all-Asian final.

IND vs BAN: IND 174/9 (46)

Sushant Mishra – 1 (6)

Akash Singh – 1 (1)

Shoriful Islam – 31/2 (10)

India’s lower order has collapsed brutally. In a mix of shock runouts and deplorable wickets, Bangaldesh have managed to pull the game away from India. Sushant Mishra and Akash Singh are keeping the game from finishing. Yashasvi Jaiswal’s wicket triggered this collapse.

Shocking stuff from India! Another runout. This time it is Ravi Bishnoi who makes the wrong decision. India have managed to gift away their wickets in this run chase. Earlier it was Dhruv Jurel, now it is Bishnoi. Wickets are being handed like sweets during Diwali.

Massive miscommunication between Dhruv Jurel and Atharva Ankolekar. What are they doing? Both the batsman end up at the same end. “This is incredible and I haven’t seen something like this” Tom Moody admits on air. After seeing the replays for almost 10 minutes, the third umpire decides that Jurel has to depart. Incredible stuff!

Bangladeshi bowler Shoriful Islam has been mercurial for the Tigers today. He was on the verge of hattrick after taking Yashasvi Jaiswal and Siddhesh Veer’s wicket in the last two balls of his over. Unfortunately, he could not complete it in his next over as Dhruv Jurel up to task.

Heartbreak for India! Yashasvi Jaiswal departs after a well-made 88. He is the main reason why India have crossed 100. Now that he has gone back to the pavilion, India’s expected score would also fall down. Absolutely beautiful batting today by the youngster under such extreme pressure.

IND vs BAN: IND 145/3 (38)

Yashasvi Jaiswal – 80 (114)

Dhruv Jurel – 12 (23)

Yashasvi Jaiswal has braved the Bangladesh bowling all alone as wickets fell at the other end. India have lost Divyansh Saxena, Tilak Varma and skipper Priyam Garg. Dhruv Jurel is in the middle with Jaiswal in the hopes of building a partnership for India.

Bangladesh remove Indian skipper Priyam Garg. Garg departs after having scored just seven runs. He failed to have a meaningful impact with his batting but will try to do his best bit of captaincy.

Tilak Varma falls! Bangladesh get the much needed breakthrough. They have broken this vital Indian partnership. Tanzim Hasan Sakib takes the wicket. The 94-run stand comes to an end. Skipper Priyam Garg enters the field.

Yashasvi Jaiswal’s splendid form continues as he brings up his fifth fifty plus score in the World Cup. What an important inning this has been from the youngster. He has proved himself as the best batsman of the tournament. He is just the third batsman to achieve this feat at the U-19 World Cup.

IND vs BAN: IND 63/1 (20)

Yashasvi Jaiswal – 37 (62)

Tilak Varma – 18 (41)

Rakibul Hasan – 8/0 (4)

Yashasvi Jaiswal and Tilak Varma have build an impressive partnership after losing Divyansh Saxena cheaply early on. Both have looked solid despite a magnificient bowling display from Bangladesh. They also have brought up their fifty-run partnership. Excellent stuff from both sides.

IND vs BAN: IND 36/1

Yashasvi Jaiswal – 23 (45)

Tilak Varma – 5 (16)

Avishek Das – 18/1 (4)

After an uncharacteristically nervy start, Yashasvi Jaiswal seems to be his regular self now. So far, he has hit three boundaries and looks set for more more. Tilak Varma has looked good since coming on and after an early injury scare, has set up a partnership with Jaiswal.

Tilak Varma seems to be in terrible pain at the moment. He went down clutching his knee after completeing a run for his team. His knee is being bandaged at the moment. Looks like he will continue playing the match.

IND vs BAN: IND 9/1 (7)

Yashasvi Jaiswal – 3 (23)

Tilak Varma – 0 (2)

Avishek Das – 1/1 (1)

Jaiswal and Saxena started building the Indian innings slowly and surely, but the fiery Bangladeshi bowlers had other plans as Avishek Das strikes in his first over to get Divyansh Saxena’s wicket. The bowlers seem to be in a fiery mood as well, having exchanged a few words with the Indian batsmen. Tilak Varma comes in.

Odds do not seem to be in India’s favour as this statistic suggests that it has been 10 years since a team batting first has won the U-19 World Cup. Australia was the last team to that back in 2010 against Pakistan.

Yashasvi Jaiswal and Divyansh Saxena start the Indian innings.

Both the teams have had an impressive run in the World Cup so far, with zero defeats in their campaign. Most of it boils down to two players, India’s Yashasvi Jaiswal and Bangladesh’s MahmudulHasan Joy.

India, who walloped arch-rivals Pakistan by 10 wickets in the semifinal on Tuesday, will be playing their seventh final since 2000 when they lifted the trophy for the first time.

Heading to the mega event today, India colts played about 30-odd games in different part of the world. To get used to the South African conditions, they played a quadrangular series before they played their World Cup opener against Sri Lanka.

In the final, India run into Bangladesh, a team which too has reaped the benefits of meticulous planning since their quarterfinal loss at the 2018 edition.

Considering it is Bangladesh’s maiden final, it is a bigger game for them. If they win, it will be a sweet revenge against the sub-continental giants, who have found a way to tame Bangladesh at the senior level in close finals including the 2018 Nidahas Trophy and 2016 World T20.
