In the Sushant Singh suicide case, the actress Rhea Chakraborty, her brother Shovik and father Indrajit were questioned by the ED for about 10 hours. Sushant’s roommate, Siddharth Pithani, was also seen at the ED office. Meanwhile, a new petition has been filed in the Supreme Court on behalf of Rhea. It says that a media trial is going on regarding Sushant’s suicide, there is an attempt to blame Rhea for Sushant’s death.
Rhea questioned for the second time in four days by the ED
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) team questioned Rhea Chakraborty for the second time in four days. Rhea had told in previous inquiries that she has been receiving financial support from her father. According to sources, the ED officials asked her father when and how much financial support has been provided to Rhea by him. They also asked him what was the source of his income if he supported her.
The ED questioned Shovik for the third time, father Indrajit Chakraborty for the first time and Sushant’s business manager Shruti Modi for the second time. Today, Sushant’s roommate Siddharth Pithani was also summoned for questioning, who reached the ED office at around 2.15 pm.
Rhea did not cooperate in initial inquiry
On July 31, the ED has registered a case against 6 people, including Rhea, in the case of misappropriation of Rs 15 crore from Sushant Singh Rajput’s account. Initially, the actress did not cooperate in the investigation. She called the charge of withdrawing money from Sushant’s account fabricated and false. According to Rhea, she did 7 films and earned them.
Rhea’s 3 properties investigated
- Of the three properties owned by Rhea, one is in Khar, the other is in Juhu and the third in Navi Mumbai. The market value of these three properties collectively is around Rs 3 crore. If sources are to be believed, Rhea bought these three properties after 2018.
- According to ED sources, Shovik was an active partner with Sushant. Shovik was questioned about Sushant’s companies, his personal business, income, investment and financial deals with Rhea. His statement has been recorded under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). Rhea’s chartered accountant Ritesh Shah has also been questioned.
Rhea’s allegations on Sushant’s family
In an interrogation by ED on Friday, Rhea made serious allegations against Sushant’s family. She claims that Sushant’s family members are pressurizing her to acquire his insurance and other properties.
Sushant’s Father lodges FIR against Rhea
Sushant’s father, KK Singh, lodged an FIR against Rhea in Patna on July 25, which has been transferred to CBI. Rhea and her family are accused of cheating Sushant and misappropriating 15 crore from his account. Information came out of Sushant’s bank account that Rhea had withdrawn lakhs of rupees in the name of worship and offering to the priest five times. Subsequently, the actor’s sister Mitu alleged that Rhea used this money to do tantra-mantra against her brother.
While it is still unclear who was responsible for Shushant’s suicide, it has become exceedingly clear that Rhea has received an unwanted amount of media attention. The media has surely portrayed her as the villain without any concrete proof. Many are also quick to point out how her treatment may be the direct effect of the Indian society’s inherent misogyny.
