In an interview with Forbes that was published on Friday, Altman said, “I think that if AGI truly happens, I can imagine all these ways that it breaks capitalism.”
Intending to oppose Google’s growing hegemony in the artificial intelligence market, Altman cofounded OpenAI with a group of early investors that included Elon Musk and Peter Thiel.

According to Altman, OpenAI’s mission was to democratize artificial intelligence and spread its benefits as widely as possible by continuously disseminating its work, research, and even patents to the public.
This was in opposition to the idea that one tech giant could monopolize A.I. research for years to come.

While Altman wrote on Twitter in December that he would “have to maximize it or something at some point,” OpenAI announced this past week that it would test a paid subscription plan for ChatGPT.
Altman stated in his interview that he continues to believe that OpenAI can strike a balance between its objective of democratization and its new financial interests. “Capitalism is awesome in my opinion.
I love capitalism,” he declared, adding that he still hoped “we find a way better one” even though he considered capitalism to be the best economic model out of a bad bunch.
He reaffirmed the notion that no one company should possess artificial intelligence and hoard its advantages, and he added that he is doing everything in his power for OpenAI to avoid doing so.
