Kapil Sibal Slams Modi Govt’s Inaction on Wrestlers’ Protest: ‘Brij Bhushan ka Saath’ Continues. As calls for the arrest of Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, a BJP MP and Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief, intensified, Kapil Sibal, a Rajya Sabha MP, launched a scathing attack on him. Wrestling Federation of Indiaˀ has faced allegations of sexual harassment, yet he remains free from any legal action. Sibal, a former Congress leader, criticized the silence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, the BJP, and the RSS, questioning their commitment to the government’s slogan of ‘sabka sath, sabka vikas, sabka vishwas’ (together with everyone, development for everyone, trust of everyone)'Sabka saath nahin, Brij Bhushan ka saath': Kapil Sibal's dig at govt

In a tweet, Sibal expressed his frustration, saying, “Brij Bhushan Singh, with mounting evidence, public outcry, still not arrested. PM silent, HM silent, BJP silent, RSS silent. Message enough for those investigating!” He further added, “Sabka saath nahin Brij Bhushan ka saath! (Not with everyone but with Brij Bhushan).”

The Delhi Police filed two FIRs against Singh, including one under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, based on complaints from six wrestlers and the father of a minor. The allegations against Singh include groping, stalking, and intimidation spanning a period of 10 years. The way investigation is going, we know': Sibal on probe into wrestlers' allegations against WFI chief

Sibal, who represented the protesting wrestlers in the Supreme Court, had previously questioned whether this was a “new India” where the POCSO Act and immediate arrests applied only to individuals other than Singh, who happens to be a BJP MP. In another tweet, he remarked, “Brij Bhushan: ‘Ready to hang myself if single allegation proved.’ Suicide? Doesn’t sound real!”

Amid mounting pressure for Singh’s arrest, he announced the postponement of his Jan Chetna Maha Rally in Ayodhya due to “safety reasons.” He cited the ongoing police investigation and Supreme Court directives as the reasons for the decision. Singh, who represents Kaiserganj in the Lok Sabha, maintained that the charges against him were politically motivated.

Leaders of Khap panchayats have issued an ultimatum to the government, demanding Singh’s arrest by June 9. Failure to comply with the demand will result in a fresh agitation at Jantar Mantar in Delhi.
