Jharkhand is gearing up for elections in the last month of the year. With a ruling state government led by the Bhartiya Janta Party, the opposition forces have awakened to give it a tough fight. The main opposition which BJP might face is from the regional party of the area, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha [JMM]. In a release of its manifesto, JMM has assured to grant 67% reservation to the Scheduled Tribes [ST], Other Backward Classes [OBC] and Scheduled Castes [SC]. Also, the manifesto promises the opportunity to avail government job for the local people, if it is elected to power in the next Assembly elections. 

BJP MP from Bhopal Sadhvi Pragya Thakur apologized twice in Lok Sabha on Friday for calling Nathuram Godse a patriot. Opposition parties protested after Pragya's first apology at 12:30 pm in Parliament. After this, Speaker Om Birla called an all party meeting. Pragya then apologized for the second time in Lok Sabha at 2:30 pm. She said, "I did not call Nathuram Godse a patriot in the Parliament on 27 November. I didn't even name him. "

The second term of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis for five years did not last even for four days. Fadnavis was sworn in as chief minister on Saturday morning, on the basis of Ajit Pawar's trust, and immediately removed President's rule from the center. Ajit was made the Deputy Chief Minister. In just three days after forming a secret government, Ajit Pawar realized that uncle Sharad Pawar had the key to power. On Tuesday morning, the Supreme Court ruled on the floor test, and in the afternoon, Ajit Pawar quietly resigned. Fadnavis also announced his resignation after an hour. In this way, after winning the Lok Sabha elections with an absolute majority, Maharashtra the first major state eloped from the hands of BJP. BJP MLA Kalidas Columbkar was made the protem speaker and has called the first session of the assembly at 8 am on Wednesday, in which the MLAs will be administered the oath.

It seems BJP is always ready to get collated with any party to humiliate Congress. But as said’ every evil has its end’, recent Maharashtra election case has shaken the over-confidence level of BJP showing them their place.  

In an unprecedented manner of a show of strength, with banners reading 'We are 162' and the Constitution, the MLAs of the three parties- Shiv Sena, NCP and Congress pledged loyalty to the leadership of Uddhav Thackeray, Sharad Pawar and Sonia Gandhi at Grand Hyatt, Mumbai on Monday. In what is now being mocked as a 'political fashion show', it was a show of strength that has morally bound the BJP from all ends.

Believe it or not, the existence of the opposition party is as important as the existing government. It helps in keeping the things on track by keeping an eagle’s eye on the working of the existing government. Any decision announced and a vigorous attack like an arrow waiting to be eagerly shot is thrown at the target making people aware of the ill-effects of the decision taken and trying to make people realize their wrong decision of voting the existing government. The attack also forces the government to maintain transparency with the people as the opposition party will use the hidden information as a weapon against them. But to do this, a strong and experienced party is required and in India, who else can do this task better than the Congress leaders.

In Maharashtra, the BJP formed the government for the first time in 2014 and achieved a special achievement for the first time. This was the first time in 50 years that a Chief Minister had completed his five-year term. Before Devendra Fadnavis, Congress Chief Minister Vasantrao Naik had not only completed his five-year term but also became the Chief Minister again.

The chargesheet of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has revealed the unaccounted expenses of Ratul Puri, nephew of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath. Ratul was arrested by the ED in August in a money laundering case of 8,000 crore. He is also an accused in the VVIP chopper scam. According to the ED, Ratul was living a luxurious life on the credit card of Dubai hawala operator Rakesh Saxena. He used to travel in a private jet and used to go to the nightclub everyday. He spent 7.8 crores rupees ($ 11,43,980) in a club in America.
