Hyderabad Police claimed on Tuesday that two of the four accused involved in the rape and murder of the Veterinary Doctor had earlier burnt nine women after the rape. According to a media report on Wednesday, during interrogation, two accused confessed this to the police. On November 27, the four accused burnt to death after raping a Veterinary doctor. After arresting the accused, on December 6, when the police took everyone to the scene to recapture the scene, they tried to escape from there. After this, the police had encountered all four accused there.

Petitions were filed against the encounter of 4 accused in rape and murder of Veterinary Doctor in Telangana in the Supreme Court on Wednesday. The case was headed by Chief Justice AS Bobde. The matter is currently in the Telangana High Court. The apex court has proposed to appoint a former judge to investigate the encounter. The next hearing will be on Thursday.

The ministry, in its advice, had also mentioned all the measures that can be taken to prevent heinous crimes with women. Key things included 'Good Samaritan' and 'Zero FIR'. Most states have unnecessarily delayed implementing a dozen recommendations of the Union Home Ministry.

CJI SA Bobde said that recent events in the country have sparked old debate with renewed vigor. There is no doubt that the criminal justice system should reconsider its position and its attitude towards negligence, but till the end the crime should be settled under the law only.

Just as everyone, Bollywood too woke up to the news of Hyderabad's police's act of shooting the four men accused of raping and then burning the vet-doctor Priyanka Reddy alive in Telangana. The encounter had a mixed reaction from the people as some felt that Justice is served where others think that this is not how we needed truth to be served.
