RWF organises Meet on Smart and Sustainable – Manufacturing & Operations

Chief Guest for the meet was Rajesh Agrawal, Member Rolling Stock Railway Board. In his address highlighted the important aspects of Smart and Sustainable Manufacturing and Operations on Indian Railways. He stressed on the transformative initiatives required to be taken to identify potential of application of artificial intelligence and smart manufacturing while ensuring responsible environmental sustainability with a goal for carbon neutrality and attempts to be E-energy positive. He cited the example of initiatives taken in Indian Railways in RWF, MCF, ICF, Workshops and also the bio- toilets in Railway Stations etc. He appreciated today’s gathering of established players from Industry, academia, innovators etc., all under one roof.

The Modi government after trying all juggles has decided an initiate a privatization program. Under this program, the government will sell its entire stake in the second-largest state refiner- Bharat Petroleum Corp and the largest shipping company, Shipping Corp. of India Ltd. It has also declared to sell control on 30.8% shareholding in Container Corp which has almost monopoly on railway freight. Along with them, Air India will also be put on sale and the government would pay for the airline’s hefty debt to make a sale attractive.

IRCTC had targeted to raise Rs 645 crore from the sale of these shares. BSE said in a circular that the equity shares of IRCTC Ltd will be listed from October 14 and will be available for purchase and sale in the B group of securities. Earlier, the IPC of IRCTC opened between September 30 and October 4. It was subscribed up to 112 times.
