There were fierce protests in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh on Friday against the Citizenship Amendment Act. Violence erupted during demonstrations in 20 districts of Uttar Pradesh. During the firing in Firozabad and Meerut, 2 people died due to firing. 8 people were injured in Kanpur and 4 in Bijnor. The day-long protest in the Jama Masjid area of Delhi was peaceful. The Registration of Press and Periodical (RPP) Bill, 2019 has been introduced by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on Tuesday. Provision, as laid under Section 18 of the bill, suggests for the regulation of digital media.
