NCP chief Sharad Pawar on Thursday claimed that during the Maharashtra Assembly elections last year BJP lost the power as Muslims did not vote for it. ''Minorities vote for parties which can defeat BJP. During elections, the minorities decide whom to defeat. In the state, the change of guard which we are seeing is due to that,'' Pawar said at the party's minority cell meeting.

NCP chief Sharad Pawar said on Thursday that representatives of minority communities had conveyed that they would not mind if his party joined hands with the Shiv Sena, but the BJP must be kept away from power in Maharashtra.

Dhananjay Munde, the MLA of NCP in a communication to the State’s newly sworn-in chief minister, has requested him to re-look the ‘false allegations’ made out against the said activists and lawyers, who are ailing in different jails across the State. He has demanded that as the case was based on frivolous grounds, the same be withdrawn and the activists soon be released. NCP is one of the three political parties who have joined hands in alliance to form a government in the State.

In a small extension to the drama that underwent in Maharashtra last week, the Bhartiya Janta Party staged a walkout today in the first session of the Parliament. BJP is the single largest party in the state with a total of 105 MLAs in the assembly. The main reason for the walkout as painted by the BJP was that it is being conducted in an ‘unlawful manner’, indicating towards the swearing-in of the ministers and the convening of the house session. Despite the uproar in the Parliament, the Maha Vikas Aghadi front led by Uddhav Thackrey comfortably sailed in the floor test with a total of 169 votes in their favour. The BJP has 105 MLAs in the assembly saying a post-poll alliance as entered into by the three parties is nothing but unlawful.

The oath-ceremony of the first chief minister from the Thackrey family- Uddhave Thackrey was organised in the state with full pomp and show. After a dramatic turnout of the event, the oath-taking is now seen as an opulent show of power for the next five years in the state of Maharashtra. With lights and colours across the state was a show of win for the Maha Vikas Aghadi. It is reported that the stage on which Uddhav Thackrey took the oath of being the chief minister was designed by a renowned set designer of Bollywood- Nitin Desai.

In a full picture view, the NCP is now set to form the government in Maharashtra in coalition with Congress and Shiv Sena. On the other hand, Ajit Pawar has been cleared in nine ongoing corruption cases. What the BJP is left with is nothing but a nation-wide insult for staging a political drama and undermining the constitutional norms. Now, Ajit Pawar returns to the NCP, not with very clean hands. With MLAs disappearing to being found again, Sharad Pawar is now an acclaimed political mastermind for the country.
