Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut spoke on Supreme Court’s recent verdict on Nirbhaya case. She said, “Firstly if he is able to rape, then he is not minor. Such people should be killed at the crossroads, they should be hanged there so that people get to know what rape is and what is the punishment for raping somebody. That mother and father are bearing the pain even after so many years of that incident. These people will be called from the High Court to the Supreme Court. What kind of society is this? Why should such people be killed silently? What example do you want to give to the society?” Kangana Ranaut is on promotional spree for her upcoming flick ‘Panga’. The movie is a sports drama and will release on Jan 24.

On Saturday senior advocate Indira Jaising urged the mother of Nirbhaya to pardon the men on death row who were convicted for the 2012 gang rape of her daughter.

Mukesh Singh, one of the four men on death row in the Nirbhaya gangrape and murder case, on Friday exhausted all his legal options with President Ram Nath Kovind rejecting his mercy plea and the Home Ministry sending it on to the Delhi government, officials said.

The BJP on Thursday blamed AAP government's "negligence" for the "delay" in the hanging of Nirbhaya gangrape case convicts, saying it took more than two and a half years for the Arvind Kejriwal dispensation to give notice to convicts after Supreme Court rejected their appeal against the death sentence in 2017.

The Delhi High Court on Thursday dismissed the petition of Pawan Gupta, one of the four convicts of Nirbhaya gang rape and murder. The convict sentenced to death in the case had filed a petition on Wednesday, in which he had declared himself a minor at the time of the incident. Pawan's lawyer AP Singh sought time from the court to hand over the new documents during the hearing, to which Nirbhaya's parents objected.

The Supreme Court has upheld the hanging of Nirbhaya gang rape and murder convict Akshay. The 3-member bench on Wednesday dismissed his petition. Nirbhaya's mother Asha Devi expressed happiness over the decision. After this, the death warrant of the convicts was heard in Patiala House Court. The court directed Tihar Jail to issue a week's notice to the convicts today whether they want to file mercy petition or not. The court will next hear it on 7 January. However, Akshay's lawyer AP Singh has said to file a curative petition before the mercy petition.

Vinay Sharma, one of the four convicts in the Nirbhaya rape case, said that the mercy petition sent to the President should be withdrawn. Vinay said on Saturday that the petition was not signed by me. Vinay is the only convict in the case who had filed the mercy petition. According to officials, the Home Ministry has sent a recommendation to the President for a final decision on the mercy petition. Also, the Center has recommended rejection on the mercy petition.
