As the sit-in demonstration against CAA-NRC dubbed `Mumbai Bagh’, entered its fourteenth day on Saturday, the Mumbai police were handing out preventive notices under Section 149 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) to protesters entering Morland Road, Nagpada, warning that if any law and order situation were to erupt, they would be held responsible and arrested. Section 149 of the CrPC gives powers to the police to take measures to prevent cognisable offences.

A day after a man entered the protest area at Shaheen Bagh and threatened anti-CAA agitators, the police have registered a case in this connection, officials said on Wednesday.

The demand is to immediately shift him to AIIMS and fetch the proper medical treatment required. In a tweet by Priyanka Gandhi, she says that there are no grounds to detain him in Jail. If he is unwell, he should not be denied medical treatment. She demands that Azad should be sent to AIIMS to be treated immediately.
