New Zealand complete a memorable whitewash against India. The Kiwis have redeemed themselves after facing a T20I series against the Men in Blue. This is the first time in 31 years that India have faced such a whitewash. They have lost a bilateral ODI series of 3 or more matches for the first time since 1989.

Yuzvendra Chahal on fire! Takes his third victim of the day. This time it is James Neesham who departs after scoring 19 runs.

Henry Nicholls departs at 80! Shardul Thakur removes him. The Indian bowlers are staging a comeback here. The result of the match could very well boil down to the final over. Two new batsmen at the crease for New Zealand, Tom Latham and James Neesham.

Gone! Ross Taylor is dismissed for the first this series and it is Ravindra Jadeja who has impacted the dismissal. Taylor gives a straight catch to Indian skipper Virat Kohli. The spinners are slowly turning the things in favour of India. Tom Latham walks in.

NZ vs IND: NZ 175/2 (30)

Henry Nicholls – 77 (95)

Ross Taylor – 5 (11)

Ravindra Jadeja – 28/0 (7)

New Zealand seem to be in a comfortable position despite losing two of their most important wickets in the form of Martin Guptill and skipper Kane Williamson. Nicholls has looked very good this match and Taylor will back himself to perform after good outings in previous matches.

The dimunitive leg-spinner strikes again! This time Chahal removes Kiwi skipper Kane Williamson. A rather soft dismissal for the captain. He is livid with himself. Gives it straight to Mayank Agarwal, who gladly gobbles it up. Ross Taylor comes in for the Kiwis.

Henry Nicholls brings up his 11th ODI half-century and his second of the series. He has been very vital to New Zealand’s plan of an Indian whitewash. Nicholls will want to convert this fifty into a hundred.

NZ vs IND: NZ 120/1 (20)

Henry Nicholls – 40 (59)

Kane Williamson – 11 (15)

Yuzvendra Chahal – 14/1 (3)

Chahal provided India with the breakthrough wicket of Martin Guptill. This wicket strenghtened India’s believes after it felt like the Kiwis would walk away with the match. Skipper Williamson will be looking to strike up a partnership with Nicholls, while India will looking to prevent them from forming a partnership.

Gone! Yuzvendra Chahal gives the much-needed breakthrough to India. He takes out the very dangerous Martin Guptill. Guptill departs after a splendid knock. The Indians should grab this opportunity and make sure that the Kiwis do not build yet another partnership. New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson walks in.

Martin Guptill and Co are looking unstoppable at the moment and have already crossed the 100-run mark within 15 overs. If this continues, India will have to brace themselves for a series whitewash.

Martin Guptill brings up another fifty. He has been brutal against the Indian bowlers today. He scored his half-centuyr in just 29 balls. So far, he has scored 5 boundaries and 4 sixes.

NZ vs IND: NZ 65/0 (10)

Martin Guptill – 43 (27)

Henry Nicholls – 20 (33)

Navdeep Saini – 30/0 (4)

Guptill and Nicholls have given a terrific start to the Kiwis. So far, the Indian bowlers have not managed to trouble the openers. If they don’t get a breakthrough soon, the Indians will face a very difficult task in defeating the Kiwis.

Martin Guptill and Henry Nicholls open the innings for New Zealand.

KL Rahul and Manish Pandey depart in consecutive deliveries. Hamish Bennett takes them out. Both built a 100-run partnership to stabilise India’s innings. Rahul scored 112, while Pandey scored 42. Ravindra Jadeja and Shardul Thakur are the two new batsmen on the pitch. Bennett missed out on a hat-trick after Jadeja proved to be up to task.

KL Rahul is now the second player for India to score a century in New Zealand batting atnumber 5 or below.

100 for KL Rahul! An incredible innings from an incredible player. He has been phenomenal today and has resurrected India after the top three collapsed. He built partnerships with Shreyas Iyer as well as Manish Pandey. Takes off the helmet and raises the bat.

NZ vs IND: IND 210/4 (38)

KL Rahul – 74 (84)

Manish Pandey – 21 (24)

Mitchell Santner – 32/0 (6)

After Iyer’s departfure, it felt that India had lost its case. But Rahul and Pandey have put up quite a show at the Bay Oval and are on the verge of bringing up their fifty-run partnership. Pandey has played second-fidde to Rahul, but he has done well in cementing himself to the spot and not giving away his wicket.

Close! KL Rahul had left all hopes. Miscommunication between the Karnataka batsmen almost leads to KL Rahul’s wicket. Fortunately for him, Mitchell Santner’s throw did not strike the timber.

KL Rahul brings up another half-century. What a form this man is in! This has been a vital innings from him as he stoodon the other end and watches Iyer’s fireworks. AfterIyer’s wicket, teh onus now falls on him to take India to a good total.

Oh no! Just when things were looking bright for India, they have lost the vital wicket of Shreyas Iyer. He was brilliant today, but James Neesham bagged him. Colin de Grandhomme takes a good catch. Iyer departs at 62. Manish Pandey walks in.

NZ vs IND: IND 161/3 (30)

Shreyas Iyer – 62 (62)

KL Rahul – 46 (61)

Hamish Bennett – 39/1 (6)

Iyer and Rahul are putting quite a show here for India. The Kiwis are having a hard time in stopping the flow of runs. India might very well be on the brink of big score. Iyer has been phenomenal and Rahul has proved to a worthy non-striker.

The fantastic Shreyas Iyer keeps on proving why it was a good decision to back him. He has put in another special performance for the Men in Blue after scoring a scintillating fifty. This is his third consecutive fifty of the series.

NZ vs IND: IND 119/3 (23)

Shreyas Iyer – 40 (41)

KL Rahul – 27 (40)

Mitchell Santner – 13/0 (3)

Iyer and Rahul have fabulously handled the Indian innings after early batting collapse. Both look set to repeat their heroics from the 1st ODI. Both look in supreme touch and have played some fantastic shots.

Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul look solid after coming on for India. They will try to emulate their performance from their 1st ODI against New Zealand and help India to an above average total.

NZ vs IND: IND 77/3  (15)

Shreyas Iyer – 17 (22)

KL Rahul – 8 (11)

Colin de Grandhomme – 8/0 (2)

Iyer and Rahul, the duo who have been most impressive this series for India, take centre stage after another opening horror-show for India. India have sorely missed the partnership of Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan. This shows in the team’s inability to cope up in their absence.

Horror show for India! Prithvi Shaw, who looked in fine form, gives away his wicket after some suicidal running. India’s grip over the match is slipping and they will not be able to reach a good score until and unless someone stands his ground and does something about it.India will have some thinking to do. KL Rahul walks in.

Here are a few other stats that show Kohli is in desperate need for a good run in form.

Twitter has not been kind to Kohli after yet another no-show.

NZ vs IND: IND 56/2 (10)

Prithvi Shaw – 38 (38)

Shreyas Iyer – 7 (7)

Kyle Jamieson – 21/1 (5)

After losing skipper Virat Kohli and opener Mayank Agarwal cheaply, India find themselves in a whole lot of trouble. Shaw and Iyer should hold their ground in order to take India to a respectable total. Shaw has looked in excellent touch today and will hope to build up his innings.

India lose skipper Virat Kohli.Their trend of losing early wickets in the ODI series continues as Indiaare without Mayank Agarwal and Virat Kohli now. Shreyas Iyer enters the fray.

Mayank Agarwal dismissed by Kyle Jamieson. Another departure for Agarwal (1 off 3 balls) with a single-digit run.

Prithvi Shaw and Mayank Agarwal look forward to opening the scoring cards for India.

New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson won the toss and opted to bowl first.

Big news for the Kiwis as skipper Williamson finally makes it back to the squad after missing out the first two ODIs due to injury.

India XI: P Shaw, M Agarwal, V Kohli, S Iyer, KL Rahul, M Pandey, R Jadeja, S Thakur, N Saini, Y Chahal, J Bumrah

New Zealand XI: M Guptill, H Nicholls, K Williamson, R Taylor, T Latham, J Neesham, C de Grandhomme, M Santner, T Southee, K Jamieson, H Bennett

After losing the first two matches, and with that the series, India will fight for nothing but their self-respect in the third encounter against New Zealand at Mount Maunganui on Tuesday. It is possible that India will experiment with their options so as to give other players a chance to play. Although Indian skipper Virat Kohli has said that ODIs do not have much relevance this year, they will be looking to end the series on a high and avoid a whitewash before going into the Tests.

With Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan missing due to injuries, Virat Kohli missing out on scoring big and KL Rahul batting later in the order, India’s traditional ODI strength was neutralised without New Zealand having to do any hard work.

Openers Prithvi Shaw and Mayank Agarwal have shown only momentary flashes of brilliance and have not replicated the kind of starts the Indian batting has grown accustomed to from its top-order.

India may also look to experiment a bit before the Test series. Rahul, Shaw, Iyer, Kedar Jadhav and Yuzvendra Chahal did not take part in the optional practice session on Monday.
