There were fierce protests in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh on Friday against the Citizenship Amendment Act. Violence erupted during demonstrations in 20 districts of Uttar Pradesh. During the firing in Firozabad and Meerut, 2 people died due to firing. 8 people were injured in Kanpur and 4 in Bijnor. The day-long protest in the Jama Masjid area of ​​Delhi was peaceful. But, in the evening, the protesters threw stones at the police and opened fire.

Left parties and Muslim organizations called a nationwide shutdown in protest against the citizenship law on Thursday. Demonstrations and incidents of violence occurred in 12 states. In 6 of the states where protests took place, BJP is in power. In Sambhal in Uttar Pradesh, protesters set the bus on fire. In Lucknow, the mob opened fire on the police. Crew members got stuck due to a jam on the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway, forcing IndiGo to cancel 19 flights from Delhi. 16 flights were delayed.

On Thursday, Left parties and Muslim organizations called a shutdown in other states of the country including Karnataka, Bihar to protest against the citizenship law. During this time, CPI-M workers blocked railway tracks in many cities including Patna, Darbhanga in Bihar.

From the day, the Amended Citizenship Act has passed, there have been several cases of protest in many states of India. Already the talks of the violent clash between the Jamia Milia Islamia students and the police has created a tension in the air, Delhi’s northeast area Seelampur-Jafrabad area has added fuel to the fire.

Sources in Delhi Police told that a protest was to be held in Jafrabad in East Delhi at 2 pm. For this, people had gathered at 1.15 pm in the afternoon. They started the march on foot towards Seelampur. Initially the protest was peaceful but suddenly people started to disperse and violence started.

But the people in India haven't accepted this newly amended law. To oppose this, various states in India are facing violating acts. While the attacks are spearheaded by the northeastern parts and in the other parts, Muslims have taken the lead.

The warp of protests against CAB that started in the Northeastern part has spread to more states taking violent turns in Delhi and West Bengal.

Curfew was relaxed in parts of Assam and Meghalaya, after days of recently amended Citizenship Act. However the situation was still heated in parts of west Bengal witnessing arson affecting the rails and roadways.
