A high on symbolism march took place from Jamia Millia Islamia to Shaheen Bagh  


Shaheen Bagh has already become an epicenter of CAA protests for over 30 days and now it has included the already active Jamia Millia Islamia university in its protest. 

On Sunday, Jan 19 hundreds of people including women and children took out a massive anti-CAA march from Jamila Millia Islamia to Shaheen Bagh shouting slogans on repealing the Citizenship Amendment act. The protesters also chanted “Azadi” and “CAA-NCR Par Halla Bol”. The protest also had a mock detention cell portrayed with a cell on wheels having sat little children chanting slogans. 

Many held candles and holding placards and shouting slogans  “We reject CAA, NRC, and NPR”, “Hindu Muslim Sikh Isai, Aapas Mein Bhai Bhai”. 

The march includes some dressed up as Mahatma Gandhi and Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar. Besides this, three men dressed like martyred revolutionaries Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev, one of them in prison clothes and tied in chains.  

People gathered from various parts of the country raise slogans against the central government and demanded revocation of the CAA after the march ended.

Mohammed Shah Rukh, a protester from Jaipur tried to balance on the rail of the highway and holding tricolor is his hand and said he felt overwhelmed at this moment and said he is feeling like fighting for liberty again as he used to school textbooks about the freedom struggle. 

Several poets from various parts of the country also took part in protest reciting patriotic poems and sarcastically inspiring the establishment. And thousands of people including women and children gathered to listen to them and chanting the slogans way past midnight.

The two students from Jamia Millia Islamia studying English literature said that the Modi government talks about ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padao’ and they cants see their pains and how their studies are getting affected. They further added CAA has to go. 

All this together, the slogan, songs, Shayari, chantings kept the atmosphere charged till midnight. 

Earlier this month, hundreds of people marched over 3 km with candles in their hands-on Friday, Jan 3 in the evening to bring together the two important centers of CAA protest- Jamia Millia Islamia and Shaheen Bagh. 

The march started around 6.15 pm having protesters colored their face with tricolor, most of whom were residents of Jamia Nagar. 

The march was supported by the Jamia Coordination Committee which has been preparing for protest by organizing protest events at the gate of the university. The protest events, the committee said it is for the women who are protesting relentlessly day and night at Saheen Bagh. 

Also to give the protest a more symbolic feel, a replica of historical monument India gate was kept near the demonstration site. 

The sources said Delhi police will try to persuade protesters against CAB at Shaheen Bagh to call off their agitation. 

The police sources have started contacting the protesters which force the commuters to take different routes every day for the last one month after the Kalindi-Kunj-Shaheen Bagh protest.
