After the onion and tomato prices have increased, there has been a huge jump in the prices of garlic. Garlic is being sold up to Rs 300 per kg at shops in the capital Delhi. These prices are double the previous week. These are retail prices, although there is no significant change in the wholesale price in the last two weeks.

Two weeks ago, gar lic was being sold in the capital at Rs 150-200 per kg, which is now getting Rs 250-300 per kg. This year, gar lic production in the country has increased by 76% over the previous year; however, these sky-high prices can spoil the taste of common man’s food.

Actually, one reason behind this inflation is also rain. The traders of Kota of Neemuch, Mandsaur and Rajasthan of the country’s leading garlic market, Madhya Pradesh, said that due to the spoilage of the stocked stock due to rain, the supply was hit, due to which the prices have increased.
