Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said on Wednesday that if he does not privatize Air India, where will the money come from to run it. They say that Air India is a first-class property, if they sell it now, the bidders will come out. If we do not sell the airline, then it will become difficult to operate in the future.

Puri said that earlier we used to go to the Finance Ministry to make up for the losses of Air India. Now the funds are not being received from the ministry, so will have to go to banks. On the question of the future of Air India employees, Puri said that we are committed to the justice of the airline’s 11,000 full-time and 4 thousand contract employees. Whoever buys the airline will also need trained staff.
The government also tried to sell the airline last year, but found no buyers. The reason for this is that there are strict conditions for bidding. Therefore, it is being told that the government will keep the bidding process smooth this time. According to a report by Swarnim Times, Air India has a debt of 78 thousand crores. Out of this, a plan to give only 30 thousand crore rupees responsibility to the buyer is being considered. The government may issue a proposal to seek bids from investors on 15 December.
