BJP Demands Congress’s Apology as Thiruvavaduthurai Adheenam Strongly Rebuts ‘Bogus’ Claim on SenegalThiruvavaduthurai Adheenam reacts to Congress's 'bogus' claim on importance of Sengol | India News - Times of India

In a recent development, Thiruvavaduthurai Aadeenam Ambalavana Desika Paramacharya Swami expressed immense pride in the fact that the ‘Senegal’ (sceptre) would be installed in the new Parliament building, hailing it as a matter of great honor for Tamil Nadu. This statement came as a response to the Congress party’s claim that there was no documented evidence supporting the notion that Lord Mountbatten had presented the Sengol to India’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, in 1947. As tensions escalated between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress, K Annamalai, the Tamil Nadu BJP chief, condemned the Congress for undermining the significance of the Sengol and demanded an apology for disrespecting Sanatana Dharma (ancient Indian religious traditions) according to bjp.

Historical Significance of Sengol Upheld by Thiruvavaduthurai Adheenam, BJP Demands Congress Apology

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to install the Sengol in the new Parliament building on Sunday. In response to the Congress’s allegation, Ambalavana Desika Paramacharya Swami highlighted the historical importance of the Sengol, emphasizing that it had remained concealed from public view until now and would finally be prominently displayed in Parliament for the world to witness. When questioned by reporters in Chennai about evidence supporting the handover of the Sengol, the pontiff mentioned the existence of photographs and reports published in newspapers and magazines in 1947.

Jairam Ramesh, a Congress leader, had dismissed the claims surrounding the Sengol, stating that there was no documented evidence of Mountbatten, Rajaji, and Nehru considering the sceptre as a symbol of the transfer of British power to India. Ramesh denounced such claims as completely baseless and accused a few individuals of fabricating the story, which had subsequently spread through social media platforms like WhatsApp and now reached media outlets by bjp.PM Modi congratulates ISRO for launch of 36 satellites | Latest News India - Hindustan Times

Annamalai, in response, accused Ramesh of lowering the level of political discourse, a characteristic he associated solely with the Congress party. He asserted that the history of the Sengol was a matter of record, mentioning a jewelry shop in Chennai that had crafted the sceptre. Annamalai further demanded an apology from the Congress for disrespecting Sanatana Dharma.

“The Adheenam has spoken in the true spirit of what exactly happened in 1947. The Congress has to clarify why Sengol was marked as a walking stick in the museum. They must apologize to the Tamil Nadu people for disrespecting the Sanatana Dharma rather than getting into why Lord Mountbatten’s picture was not there. This is taking politics to a stupid level,” expressed Annamalai, the Tamil Nadu BJP chief, amidst the growing controversy.

With the press conference held by Thiruvavaduthurai Aadeenam and the subsequent statements, there seemed to be no need for further clarification. Annamalai expressed the happiness felt by Tamilians, emphasizing their pride in the fact that the Prime Minister had chosen the Sengol with Tamil inscriptions, which would be placed next to the speaker in Parliament by the bjp.

Congress Dismisses Claims on Sengol’s Authenticity, BJP Urges Apology for Disrespecting Sanatana Dharma

The Sengol, a historic sceptre made of silver and gold plated, is set to be presented to Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the inauguration of the new Parliament building on May 28. The presentation will be made by the 293rd head priest of Madurai Aadheenam, Sri Harihara Desika Swamigal, who also voiced his personal wish for Modi to return as the Prime Minister in 2024. Vummidi Sudhakar, chairman of Vummidi Bangaru Jewellers, the establishment responsible for crafting the historic Sengol, shared his gratitude towards PM Modi and mentioned the month-long process involved in creating the sceptre when he was just 14 years old.

In conclusion, the ongoing dispute between the BJP and the Congress over the Sengol continues to escalate. While Thiruvavaduthurai Aadeenam stands firm in its assertion of the Sengol’s significance, the Congress questions the authenticity of the claims surrounding the sceptre. As political tensions rise, demands for an apology and clarification persist, highlighting the importance of historical documentation and the need for respectful discourse. The installation of the Sengol in the new Parliament building remains a highly anticipated event, symbolizing the rich cultural heritage of Tamil Nadu.Shah To Discuss Poll Preparedness In Tripura
