The Meghalaya Board of Secondary Education (MBoSE) has officially declared the Meghalaya SSLC Results 2023 on May 26, 2023. Once again, students from the scenic Garo hills have showcased their exceptional capabilities by securing remarkable positions in the merit list of the Senior School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) examinations. The impressive achievements of these students reflect their dedication and hard work, as well as the commitment of their schools towards providing quality education.

The topmost position in the SSLC results was claimed by Sherwood School Tura, where the talented student Samridhya Das achieved a remarkable score of 572 marks. Samridhya’s outstanding performance across subjects like English, Mathematics, Science & Technology, Social Science, Health & Physical Education, and History exemplifies her academic excellence and comprehensive knowledge.

Jyotipriya Bhattacharjee, a student of St. Margaret’s Higher Secondary School in Shillong, secured the second position with an impressive score of 570 marks. Jyotipriya’s commendable performance in English, Mathematics, Science & Technology, Social Science, Health & Physical Education, and Alternate English highlights her strong grasp of multiple subjects.

The third position was shared by three talented students: Tanushri Acharjee of St. Margaret’s Higher Secondary School in Shillong, Ritam Deep Chowdhury of Sherwood School in Tura, and Salrime M Sangma of St. Xavier’s Secondary School in Tura. Apart from these remarkable achievers, several other students from different schools across the state have also secured commendable positions in the SSLC results, including a private candidate who displayed exceptional dedication and determination.

A total of 51,280 students from 656 schools participated in the SSLC examinations, which were conducted across 157 centers in the state. Out of these, an impressive count of 26,629 students successfully made the cut, resulting in an average pass percentage of 51.93% this year.

Breaking down the statistics further, the regular stream had a total of 35,035 students, including 14,488 males and 20,547 females, who appeared for the examinations. Additionally, 9,176 students, comprising 4,175 males and 5,001 females, participated as non-regular candidates, while 1,985 candidates, including 1,018 males and 967 females, appeared as private candidates. Among the 12 districts in the state, East Khasi Hills emerged as the top-performing district, with 12,797 students appearing for the examinations and an impressive count of 9,453 students achieving success, resulting in an overall pass percentage of 73.87%. On the other hand, South-West Garo Hills witnessed a lower pass percentage, with 3,573 students appearing and only 955 students succeeding, accounting for a pass percentage of 26.73%.

In addition to the SSLC results, the Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate Examination (Arts) results were also declared, showcasing the remarkable achievements of students in this field. Avelyne Francisca Khriam of St. Edmund’s Higher Secondary School in Shillong secured the second position, just one mark behind the topper, with a remarkable score of 449 marks. Avelyne displayed proficiency in subjects like English, Khasi, Education, Mathematics, Computer Science, and Economics. Deinamesha Hynniewta of St. Anthony’s Higher Secondary School in Shillong claimed the third spot with 446 marks, achieving distinction in English, Khasi, Informatics Practices, Political Science, Home Science, and Economics. The remaining positions in the Merit List were secured by talented students from various schools across the state.

A total of 25,437 students from 246 schools appeared for the Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate Examination in 105 centers across the state. Out of these, an impressive count of 20,425 students successfully cleared the examinations, resulting in a pass percentage of 80.30%. Although there was a marginal decline compared to the previous year’s pass percentage of 81.17%, the students’ accomplishments remain commendable.

Among the students who appeared for the exams, 22,689 were regular candidates, including 8,880 males and 13,809 females, while 2,748 were non-regular candidates, including 1,323 males and 1,425 females. The examination also witnessed 91 students exhibiting significant improvement.

The newly formed Eastern West Khasi Hills district secured the top slot for the highest pass percentage, with 730 students appearing for the examinations and an impressive count of 669 students achieving success, resulting in an overall pass percentage of 91.64%. On the other hand, South Garo Hills district recorded a lower pass percentage, with 717 students appearing and only 353 students succeeding, accounting for a pass percentage of 49.23%.
