JK Lone Hospital in Kota, Rajasthan is not able to stop the deaths of newborns. Another newborn died on Wednesday. A 4-day-old girl admitted to the e-ward of the maternity department died. The cause of the death is believed to be severe cold. On December 30-31, 9 newborns died in this hospital. In December, the figure of newborns death reached 100. In 2019, 963 children were born here. At the same time, BSP chief Mayawati raised questions by tweeting the name of Rajasthan government and Priyanka Gandhi. Mayawati wrote – Why did the general secretary of the Congress Priyanka Gandhi did not meet the women who lost their kids till now?

Dr. AL Bairwa, HOD, Department of Pediatrics, told that on December 30, two newborns died in Khatauli and Baran areas of Kota district. On 31 December, 5 newborns died in Sangod, Baran, Bundi, Kota’s Vigyan Nagar and Chashmi Ki Bawdi. These children were suffering from low birth weight, pre-mature delivery and mild infection. The government ordered to fix them.

Air comes from reticulated windows
Doctors are giving their arguments on every death, but now the harsh cold is proving fatal for the newly borns in the hospital. It happened on Wednesday in the e-ward of the maternity department. Here Parvati wife Devprakash gave birth to a healthy baby girl 4 days before through operation. The girl was with them for 4 days. The doctors took the round at 9 in the morning, till then the child was healthy, but at 11 o’clock she was dead. The child’s grandfather Mahavir told that we kept trying to go in, but the security personnel did not let us go. The girl was numb by the time she arrived. It is feared that the girl died due to cold.

It is most difficult to save the children who come after being refered: doctors
Dr. AL Bairwa, HOD, Department of Pediatrics at JK Lone, told that 70 to 80% of the children who die here are New Born. The highest number of these children are also those who come from other places as a referrer. In the cold winter, it is dangerous to bring newborns from elsewhere without any equipments.

There are 3 types of problems seen in newborns:
Hypothermia: It results from a lack of temperature in the child, which can be maintained by a transport incubator or kangaroo mother care.
Hypoglycemia: Deficiency of glucose. Bring the baby while breastfeeding. If there is no milk, feed 10% glucose.
Hypoxia: lack of oxygen. Oxygen should be provided during transportation, only then baby can be saved.

Expert view: Newborn in 4 degree instead of 37 degree temperature
It is necessary to have a temperature of 36.5 to 37.5 degrees to keep the newborn alive after delivery. It leads to the risk of hypothermia in low temperatures, which are fatal for children. At present, the temperature of Kota has reached 4 degrees. All newborns admitted to the delivery ward with their mother are living in this temperature. There is neither heater nor warmer. In such a situation, how will the newborn be alive? It is beyond comprehension. Experts believe that as soon as the newborn comes out of the mother’s womb, there is a basic need to maintain its temperature immediately. The reason is that the newborn arrives at 4 degrees directly from the mother’s womb at 37 degrees. This may damage their brain.

The MLA said- We have asked the hospital management to tell us immediately if there is any further need. We will make arrangements with public cooperation. UDH Minister Shanti Dhariwal also directed Superintendent Dr. SC Dulara to make concrete arrangements in the hospital to prevent the cold.
